Falling in Love

Fall in Missoula is like Falling in Love.  The colors, scents and sights; the beautiful light and the stars at night.  So much to behold and have gratitude for.  At Free Cycles and MIST we feel blessed to work with so many people for a better community and environment.

Sweet Summer

The Missoula summers are so sweet for so many events and projects.   We have much gratitude for living in this beautiful valley high in the mountains.  Did you know Missoula is the largest city in North America that is completely surrounded by the Rocky Mountains?  As such, this gives us all more responsibility to keep this place healthy, strong and in tune with our local eco system.

We've had a fantastic late winter and spring with all sorts of walking and bicycling activities in the Missoula Valley.  Great events are on the horizon too.

People Together
July 2014:  Over dependency on automobiles leads to several tragic conseuences within ourselves and within our community.  An abundance of crashes, pollution and social isolation are high on the list.  MIST is all about working with people to meet and exceed the challenge to foster health and love in our transportation system and cities.  Walking, Cycling and transit are three examples of how this is done.  People getting exercise, breathing fesh air and having chance encounter with fellow citizens are important building blocks for sustainable living, democracy and meaningful relationships.  Streets have been neglected, or given over to large machines, for a 100 years.  There is no reason we cannot regain a strong human element, with people working hard, smart and together.
Transportation Springs Forward

April, 2014:  Times are very busy with MIST and our flagship program, Free Cycles.  We are busy getting the community bicycle shop and pedal power warehouse ready for the people of Missoula.  Stop by and check out the progress and get your hands dirty if you have some spare time.

The Journey Towards
February, 2014:  Missoula continues on the journey towards sustainable transportation.  Here are some hot topics: raised bike lanes will be part of the new Russell Street;
